TurtleBot3 Waffle Pi

I recently bought the TB3 Waffle Pi kit and have been reading through the quick start guide and trying to determine my best installation option in terms of Ubuntu version and ROS version. 

I decided to start with Ubuntu 18.04 with ROS2 Dashing. I got everything installed and working except for the Pi Cam. Is the Pi cam only supported with ROS 1 Kinetic (on Ubuntu 16.04)?

I was hesitant to start with Ubuntu 16.04 as it is end of life this month (April 2021). 


Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,


The Picam V2 package used in TurtleBot3 is depending on raspicam_node that supports only up to Kinetic.

We're currently testing other packages(including OpenCV) to launch the camera on recent Ubuntu 18.04 / 20.04.

Once a stable configuration is developed, eManaul will be updated to support latest ROS versions.

This update is scheduled until 2021 2Q.
